A holiday in Rieden am Forggensee ( engl.: by Lake Forggen) will take you to the romantic scenery of the Southern "Allgäu", a landscape formed by the last ice age and renown for its beautiful rolling hills right in front of the spectacular high rise alpine panorama as a backdrop. Rich green meadows will relax your eyes and the reflection of our white peaked mountains in one of the many lakes will set your mind at rest and guarantee a peaceful and enjoyable holiday. Rieden is a village of around one thousand inhabitants forming a closely knit community with village feasts in the summer, sports events on the green and people talking, dancing and dressing in the traditional Bavarian manner. At the same time there is a new indoor climbing centre, a paragliding school, and small scale precision mechanic businesses with links all over the world. However remote and quiet the appearance of a village with the cows still coming home for milking every night, Rieden is in touch nevertheless. Choose among the following to see what the area has to offer: any form of paragliding or glider planes, sailing, rowing, dipping into cold or warm lakes, swimming pools and wellness baths; alpine and cross country skiing, ice skating on natural or artificial ice, and always bicycling, climbing, trekking or simply taking it easy. For a great winter stay, we recommend an atmospheric Christmas or New Year in the Alps or the virtual snow guarantee of February and March. In the summer, Rieden always has something fun going on and there is really no time when not to come. Rieden has a small all in all village shop with a good butcher's, a separate bakery, a bank, barber's, post agency, and a good cycling track and walk to Füssen (6 km /3 miles) as well as a bus and in the summer even boat service. By car: you can reach us by coming down the A 7 motorway heading south, leave at the exit Füssen (it is the last stop before the tunnel to Austria), follow signs for Rieden am Forggensee. By train: there is an hourly connection to the train hubs of Munich and Augsburg. We are happy to come to the station to get you!
